Ok I only say rare because I have never seen one like it, but they may be everywhere. Anyway this is a really cool and way old pipe. The artist was extremely talented in the way he was able to capture the true beauty of a 'special' horse. ;-) And it looks like it is still in working purchase. The mouthpiece could be bone but I believe that it might carved from ivory.
